NSU First-Generation Student Organization to host 5K Glow Run – Nov. 6

Tahlequah, Okla – The First-Generation Student Organization at Northeastern State University to host its 5K Glow Run on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025, from 5:30  to 7:30p.m. at The Fit on the NSU Tahlequah campus.

The high-energy event will feature a 5K run and 1-mile walk beginning at sundown. Participants will be decked out in glow sticks, neon paint and glow-in-the-dark tattoos, while other NSU student organizations will light up the route with decorated displays. The 5K route will follow a one-mile loop starting and ending in front of The Fit, with runners completing three laps to finish the race. Route Map Here

“First-generation students face unique challenges and we want to make sure they feel seen, supported and celebrated,” Angela Welch, a member of FGSO, said. “This event sends a powerful message: You belong. Crossing that finish line is about more than completing a race—it represents perseverance, endurance and the belief that anything is possible.”

Registration is now open to the public. Entry fees are $30 for the 5K run and $25 for the one-mile walk. Both events will begin at 5:30 p.m. CST. Registration closes Nov. 5, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. CST. NSU students are eligible for a 50% discount by entering the code RIVERHAWKS at checkout.

Funds raised will directly benefit FGSO programs, including lowering the cost of graduation stoles and purchasing supplies for future events.

The event is open to the public, and community members are encouraged to participate and celebrate the achievements of first-generation college students. For more information or to register online, visit runsignup.com/FGSO5kGlow.
