NSU recognized as Oklahoma’s top school for hospitality and tourism management

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Northeastern State University has been named Oklahoma’s top trade school for Travel (Hospitality) and Tourism Management in 2026 by Research.com. The recognition highlights NSU’s academic excellence and strong record of student satisfaction.

The distinction highlights NSU’s commitment to preparing students for success in hospitality and tourism management. The university’s No. 1 ranking reflects its dedication to providing real-world experiences, academic flexibility and support for Oklahoma’s growing tourism and hospitality economy.

According to Research.com, its team of data scientists evaluated a variety of performance metrics to determine the 2026 rankings. NSU’s program stood out for its balance of quality instruction and hands-on learning opportunities.

Students enrolled in NSU’s hospitality and tourism program study tourism marketing, event planning, industry law and policy, and trade show management alongside foundational business courses. The Hospitality and Tourism Management concentration is part of NSU’s online Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing program.

“We see the impact of our travel and tourism program reflected across the state,” Dr. Janet Buzzard, dean of College of Business & Technology, said. “Many of our graduates are applying their skills right here—growing Oklahoma’s tribal enterprises and businesses and showcasing our state’s rich heritage, culture and hospitality.”

This recognition supports NSU’s mission to provide quality, accessible education and contribute to workforce development across Oklahoma.

“This recognition affirms the exceptional quality and real-world relevance of NSU’s business programs,” NSU President Rodney Hanley said. “Our faculty are dedicated to preparing graduates who not only thrive in their fields but also strengthen Oklahoma’s tourism industry and regional economy.”
