NSU sees sixth consecutive semester of growth

Northeastern State University sees sixth consecutive semester of growth

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Northeastern State University (NSU) is continuing a multi-year trend of growth, proving that its mission to provide accessible, high-quality education is resonating with an increasing number of students in the region. This term, the university celebrates its sixth consecutive semester of enrollment growth, specifically a 1.5 percent rise in total credit hour production.

The sustained growth marks three full years of continuous enrollment expansion for the historic institution. University officials point to the continued increase in credit hour production as a sign of deeper student engagement, indicating that RiverHawks are not only enrolling in greater numbers but also are taking more courses per semester.

“Maintaining growth over six consecutive semesters is a powerful testament to the value of an NSU degree,” NSU President Rodney Hanley said. “This isn't just a short-term boost; it is a three-year pattern of success. By focusing on the needs of our students and communities, we are ensuring that NSU remains a primary engine for workforce development and social mobility in Oklahoma.”

NSU’s overall growth is being driven by its two largest campuses, Tahlequah and Broken Arrow, both of which continue to see meaningful gains. The historic Tahlequah campus remains a strong foundation for the university, while the rapidly expanding Broken Arrow campus reflects NSU’s growing presence in one of Oklahoma’s most dynamic communities.

As NSU enters its fourth year of sustained growth, university leadership remains focused on expanding access to a high-quality, affordable education. The recent passage of Senate Bill 701 marks a significant step forward, allowing NSU-Broken Arrow the opportunity to expand freshman through graduate studies in the state’s fastest-growing city and further strengthen opportunities for students, families and the regional workforce.
