Northeastern State University to celebrate Fall 2025 Commencement ceremonies – Dec. 13

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Northeastern State University will celebrate nearly 650 graduating students during the Fall 2025 Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, Dec. 13, recognizing the dedication, perseverance and accomplishments of scholars from across its campuses.

NSU will host two ceremonies inside the NSU Event Center in Tahlequah. The morning ceremony, beginning at 9:30 a.m., will honor graduates from the College of Business and Technology, the College of Extended Learning and the Gregg Wadley College of Science & Health Professions. The afternoon ceremony, scheduled for 1:30 p.m., will recognize graduates from the College of Education and the College of Liberal Arts.

This year’s commencement speaker is Christina Justice, Cherokee Nation Secretary of Natural Resources. Justice oversees key initiatives related to environmental protection, green energy and historic preservation within the Cherokee Nation. A 2024 NSU Alumni Association Distinguished Alumna, she holds degrees in criminal justice and environmental management and continues to serve as a strong advocate for sustainability, education and community advancement. NSU is honored to welcome her back to inspire graduates as they prepare for their next chapter.

“NSU looks forward to celebrating the achievements of the Fall 2025 graduating class,” Dr. Cari Keller, associate vice president for Academic Affairs, said. “Their dedication and perseverance reflect the spirit of excellence we value as an institution.”

NSU President Rodney Hanley also shared his congratulations. “Commencement is one of our most meaningful traditions—it marks the culmination of years of hard work and the beginning of new opportunities,” Hanley said. “Our graduates have shown tremendous resilience and purpose. We are proud of all they have achieved and excited to see the impact they will make in their communities and professions.”

Family members, friends and guests are welcome to attend both ceremonies. For those unable to be present in person, NSU will livestream each ceremony.
