Northeastern State University to host Junior Day, college preview day for high school juniors

TAHLEQUAH, Okla.  Northeastern State University (NSU) invites high school juniors to experience college life firsthand during its annual Junior Day on March 27, 2026, at the Tahlequah campus. This premier spring event is designed to help students jumpstart their college search and navigate the transition to higher education with confidence.

Throughout the day, attendees will meet with university representatives, explore academic programs and discover the wide range of scholarship opportunities available at NSU.

“Junior Day is an exciting, personalized experience created specifically for high school juniors. Students have the opportunity to explore our beautiful campus and learn more about the more than 80 undergraduate degrees and certificates available to them,” Brian Manley, NSU admissions and recruitment director, said. “Our hope is that they leave with a true sense of belonging that can only be found at NSU.”

In addition to informational sessions and program exploration, the event will include several opportunities for students to experience campus life firsthand. Participants will enjoy a guided tour of the historic and scenic Tahlequah campus, lunch at the Market Café and a free NSU T-shirt.

Organizers say the event is intentionally designed to help students envision themselves as future RiverHawks.

“VIP Junior Day is all about helping students picture their future. This event gives high school juniors the opportunity to explore academic programs, connect with current students and experience an authentic glimpse of life at NSU,” Kali Hackworth, associate director of recruitment, said. “From engaging sessions to meaningful one-on-one conversations, every element of the day reflects the spirit of community and commitment to student success.”

University leadership also emphasized the importance of introducing students to campus early in their college search process.

“Choosing a college is one of the most significant milestones in a student's life," NSU President Rodney Hanley said. "Junior Day is designed to welcome students into our community early, showing them firsthand how our dedicated faculty and vibrant campus culture can help them turn their ambitions into reality. We are excited to open our doors and show the next generation of RiverHawks what makes NSU such a special place to grow."

The event is free and registration is required. To sign up, visit the NSU Junior Day page.
