NSU-Broken Arrow, TCC partner to offer Smart Choice transfer pathway for Mechanical Engineering
BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – Northeastern State University and Tulsa Community College have announced their partnership to offer students in the Tulsa area a transfer pathway to complete requirements for a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering on the NSU-Broken Arrow campus. The addition of the Mechanical Engineering program to the growing list of programs offered within the TCC to NSU Smart Choice partnership fortifies the relationship between the institutions.
“This partnership will allow TCC students to seamlessly transfer to NSU for mechanical engineering,” Dr. Jessica Martin, Dean of the Gregg Wadley College of Science & Health Professions, said. “This arrangement will enhance the ways we serve our students and partners in the Tulsa/Broken Arrow area.”
Martin said the extensive student support structure between the institutions will assist students in transferring with advising services available at TCC and NSU as well as transfer events that will give students the opportunity to learn more about NSU.
This transfer pathway is one of many initiatives contributing to reaching NSU’s institutional goal of fulfilling statewide economic and workforce needs by producing well-informed, qualified graduates who are able to fill critical occupation roles.
“We believe that this will allow more students to pursue degrees and careers in this critical field,” Martin said. “Additionally, the combination of TCC and NSU's low cost but high-quality education will help greater numbers of students to achieve their engineering goals.”
Martin said faculty and staff in the Gregg Wadley College of Science & Health Professions have worked hard to ensure that students can seamlessly transfer so that all classes will count toward the bachelor’s degree at NSU. She added that they will continue to work with TCC to ensure that the articulation agreements stay up-to-date, and anticipate any changes in curriculum or workforce needs.
It is recommended that students who are interested in taking advantage of the Smart Choice partnership, transfer to NSU to start the fall semester. While it is possible to transfer at the beginning of the spring semester, courses must be taken in a sequence.
“NSU is excited to further our relationship with TCC through our Smart Choice partnership,” NSU President Rodney Hanley, said. “Both institutions are aligned in our dedication to meet the needs of students by forging a clear transfer pathway for mechanical engineering students in the Tulsa area to pursue a bachelor’s degree that is affordable and workforce-ready.”
