NSU announces 2025 Jack Kaufman winner, Outstanding Senior recipients

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Northeastern State University has announced the 2025 Outstanding Senior recipients and Jack Kaufman Senior of Distinction Award winner.

The Jack Kaufman Senior of Distinction is selected from the list of Outstanding Seniors and named for one of NSU’s most active and influential alumni. The award honors a senior who is expected to remain actively engaged with and supportive of the university for years to come.

The 2025 Jack Kaufman Senior of Distinction is Emma Rowland, a member of the Cherokee Nation and a Pawhuska, Oklahoma native. Rowland is majoring in Corporate Communications with a minor in Hospitality and Tourism Management. Following graduation, Rowland intends to join her family’s business and to eventually open her own in her hometown.

“Being selected as the Jack Kaufman Senior of Distinction at Northeastern State University is an incredible honor and means so much to me, “Rowland, said. “As a proud NSU legacy, it holds a special place in my heart. Closing the chapter of my undergraduate journey, I am filled with pride for everything I’ve accomplished during my time here. I am truly grateful for the opportunities, relationships and life experiences NSU has provided me. Once a RiverHawk, always a RiverHawk.”

The NSU Alumni Center board of directors oversees the selection of Outstanding Senior winners, considering applicants from the three NSU campuses in separate pools. To be considered, a student must be nominated by a member of NSU’s faculty or staff. Students must then complete an application detailing their leadership and campus involvement.

This year, nine seniors were recognized as Outstanding Seniors.
