NSU online Nursing programs provide flexibility, convenience for students
TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Northeastern State University’s online Nursing program gives students the ability to advance professionally while working full time. The program offers both an undergraduate RN to BSN program and a Master of Science in Nursing degree.
The nursing program, housed under the Gregg Wadley College of Science & Health Professions, provides students with a curriculum designed to build on their previous education and experience. Graduates are prepared to provide primary healthcare in diverse settings; to provide education to individuals, families and community groups; and to continue lifelong learning.
“The nursing program benefits the regional and national need for bachelor’s and master’s prepared nurses,” Dr. Heather Fenton, director of Nursing Programs at NSU, said. “The nursing program brings highly qualified nurse educators, both full-time and adjunct, to the college of science and health professions. The three full-time faculty have over 60 years combined experiences as registered nurses.”
Fenton said the online nursing program provides flexibility for students who work full time. Students are able to start the program during six starting dates throughout the year, so they can begin coursework at a time that best fits them.
“NSU prides itself in offering a high-quality education at an affordable price,” Fenton said. “Students can complete the RN to BSN program for less than $9,300 tuition and fees—not including any gen-ed or pre-req courses.”
The online RN to Bachelor of Nursing Science program at NSU consists of 30 upper division credit hours designed to build on students’ previous education and experience and prepare them for a professional nursing career. The program will also provide students with a strong foundation for a graduate education in nursing.
NSU’s online Master of Science in Nursing program prepares students for advanced opportunities in the nursing field. The MSN program allows students further specialization among three options: Nursing Education, Administrative Leadership in Nursing and Nursing Informatics. According to Fenton, students can earn their MSN degree for under $12K, tuition and fees included.
“Nursing is a critical occupation in Oklahoma and at NSU, we recognize the vital role that nurses play in our communities,” NSU President Rodney Hanley said. “We are committed to addressing this need through our innovative nursing programs by offering flexible and accessible education options. NSU is proud to offer these opportunities to students and advance the next generation of nursing professionals.”
