NSU reminds students to complete FAFSA for Spring, Fall

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Northeastern State University reminds current and prospective students to complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid for the 2025-2026 school year. While the FAFSA is available until June 30, 2026 for the 25-26 aid year, the earlier the application is completed, the better. Some federal and state funding is limited and is awarded to students who meet the qualifications with earlier application dates. The FAFSA will open on Dec. 1, 2024.

Recent platform changes to the federal student aid website were made to make the site more user-friendly prompting the new application launch date. NSU’s financial aid advisors and staff within the Student Financial Services office have worked tirelessly to adapt to the changes to the platform and to keep students informed about how to navigate them.

“At NSU, we are committed to making a quality college education accessible to our students especially to those from historically underserved communities,” NSU President Rodney Hanley said. “By providing vital resources and continuous support, we encourage students to make informed financial aid decisions that will enable them to thrive in their academic endeavors. Completing the FAFSA is the first step toward successfully completing education goals.”

In 2022-23, 93% of NSU first-time, full-time degree seeking undergraduates received grants, scholarships, loans or work study aid. To be considered for all federal grants, work-study jobs and some state-funded grants all students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA when it opens as it is a requirement to be considered to receive most funding.

Students can complete their FAFSA at studentaid.gov. Applicants should include NSU’s Federal School code of 003161 to release their information to Northeastern State University.

Spring classes at NSU are scheduled to begin Jan. 13, 2025.
