NSU announces 2024 STAR and Rising STAR winners

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Northeastern State University recently announced the 2024 STAR and Rising STAR award recipients. Wendy Reed and Adrienne Berres were awarded the honor for their outstanding contribution and service to the university.

Reed was honored as the 2024 STAR award recipient. Those who receive the award must be employed at NSU for two or more years and have demonstrated devoted service, great attitude, teamwork and reliability.

Reed has been the coordinator for conferences and events on the NSU-Broken Arrow campus since 2019. She said she has enjoyed her time at NSU as no two days are ever the same. Reed added that every day she strives to exceed the expectations groups have for their events and she is honored to receive the STAR award.

Berres was honored as the Rising STAR 2024 recipient. Recipients of the Rising STAR award have been employed at NSU between six months and two years and have demonstrated devoted service, great attitude, teamwork and reliability.

Berres has served as administrative secretary for the Department of Curriculum and Instruction for over a year. During her time in this position, Berres has organized and streamlined many processes which ensured the department and all faculty members are serving the institution and students in a timely and professional manner. Berres has been recognized for exemplifying hard work and dedication to her position and for going above and beyond, taking on extra responsibilities as needed.

“Reed and Berres truly embody the spirit of dedication and excellence that we value so highly at NSU,” NSU President Rodney Hanley said. “I commend their hard work and dedication to our institution.”

Winners received a $150 check, a gift from Barnes & Noble, annual parking permits and a STAR award trophy. Both recipients were honored during the Employee Recognition award ceremony in April.
