Bask in the spotlight! NSU Sequoyah Institute announces 2025-26 show series

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Northeastern State University’s Sequoyah Institute has announced the 2025-26 performing arts series season lineup. This year marks the 39th season of the annual series.

The series opens Sept. 13, with “An Evening with Larry Gatlin.” A Grammy-winning country artist and member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, Gatlin has written hits for Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell and Barbra Streisand. He rose to fame with his brothers, Steve and Rudy, as the Gatlin Brothers, who toured extensively from 1976 to 1992. Gatlin later starred in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical “The Will Rogers Follies” and created and starred in the musical “Quanah.”

The five-star troupe Artrageous will perform Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. The ensemble of artists, singers, dancers and musicians presents high-energy acts that honor various art forms, genres and cultural icons. Known for its audience engagement, Artrageous combines live painting, music, theater, singing, dancing and interaction in a single, high-impact show. With more than 2,000 performances, the troupe has toured the world, taking its interactive shows from India to Thailand and Paris to Austria.

The new year kicks off Jan. 22 & 23, with Face Vocal Band featuring Tahlequah native Anderson Daniel. The internationally acclaimed all-vocal rock group from Boulder, Colorado, has performed more than 1,500 shows worldwide, blending popular tunes with harmonies, beatboxing rhythms and powerhouse vocals. Face has been named “Quintet of the Year” at the A Cappella Music Awards, competed on NBC’s “The Sing-Off,” headlined Scotland’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe and opened for artists including Jon Bon Jovi, Barenaked Ladies, Manhattan Transfer, 38 Special and Culture Club featuring Boy George.

The season concludes Feb. 27, with “A Night of Comedy with Jamie Campbell.” Campbell is an NSU drama alum and a touring comedian. Known for his uplifting humor and engaging stage presence, he has earned honors including “Best Stand-Up Special” at Laugh After Dark Comedy Fest and “Best Stand-Up” at the All the Laughs Comedy Awards and “Best Feature-Length Stand-Up Special” at the Comedy Film Festival in 2024. His streaming special “Big Dad Energy” is on Amazon Prime Video. Campbell has opened for Dana Carvey and Damon Wayans and appeared on NBC’s “Chicago Fire” and ABC’s “Boondoggle.”
