Northeastern State University to host study abroad events in Tahlequah, Broken Arrow
TAHLEQUAH & BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – Northeastern State University will host two events in September to highlight the study and travel abroad opportunities for students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members.
A Study Abroad Tabling Event will be held Sept. 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Administration Building on the Broken Arrow campus. Attendees can meet with the study abroad coordinator to learn more about available programs.
The Study Abroad Fair will take place Sept. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in room 121 of the John Vaughan Library on the Tahlequah campus.
“Study abroad provides our students with skills and qualities that last a lifetime. First and foremost, it cultivates adaptability and resilience—when students live and learn in a new culture, they quickly discover how to navigate different perspectives and environments,” NSU President Rodney Hanley said. “They also gain valuable intercultural communication skills and a broader worldview, both of which are highly sought after in today’s global workforce.”
Participants will have the opportunity to hear about firsthand experiences from both faculty and peers who have studied abroad.
“Students can learn about applications, funding, travel and how they can receive academic credit through NSU,” NSU study abroad coordinator, Erik Macareno, said. “They can also explore short- and long-term study abroad options available through the International Student Exchange Programs and Aoyama Gakuin University.”
