NSU enhances student well-being with new TimelyCare partnership

Northeastern State University enhances student well-being with new TimelyCare partnership

Round-the-clock virtual health & wellness services now available to all NSU students

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Northeastern State University has partnered with TimelyCare, the nation's leading virtual health and well-being provider for higher education, to offer free, 24/7 access to physical and mental health resources for students—anytime, anywhere.

Through the TimelyCare platform, NSU students now have access to on-demand medical care, mental health counseling, health coaching, peer support and more—removing barriers related to cost, time and location. The partnership enhances NSU’s existing on-campus services and is part of a broader effort to ensure students have the tools they need to succeed both academically and personally.

“College is a time of important growth, but it also brings challenges that can impact a student's health,” NSU President Rodney Hanley said. “At Northeastern, we believe supporting the whole student is a key element to their success. Partnering with TimelyCare helps us provide students with 24/7 access to the care they need to stay healthy and thrive—no matter where they are.”

A convenient, flexible option for today’s students. Whether it’s a late-night anxiety flare-up, flu symptoms over the weekend, or a conversation with a peer who understands, NSU students can now receive care in minutes by logging into the TimelyCare app or website. Services available at no cost to students include:

  • On-demand and scheduled medical care
  • On-demand mental health support (TalkNow)
  • Scheduled counseling (up to 6 sessions per academic year)
  • Health coaching
  • Basic needs assistance
  • Care navigation
  • Peer support communities
  • Self-care digital content

TimelyCare also allows NSU faculty and staff to refer students to the service and support their well-being without delay—enhancing the safety net across campus.

Addressing a real need. The demand for accessible mental health services is high nationwide. According to Gallup and the Lumina Foundation, 69% of bachelor’s degree students who considered dropping out cited emotional stress as a key reason. TimelyCare’s platform is proven to reduce the time students wait for care and improve outcomes for students facing mental health challenges:

-50% of TimelyCare mental health visits occur outside business hours or on weekends

-Students can connect with providers in under 5 minutes on average

-90% of students say they would recommend TimelyCare services

-Significant improvements in depression and anxiety symptoms are seen by the third counseling visit

“With more than seven out of 10 students reporting that they experience mental health challenges  such as stress, anxiety or depression, expanded access to virtual health and well-being interventions like TimelyCare has never been more important,” Luke Hejl, CEO and co-founder of TimelyCare, said. “Ultimately, supporting students, educators and staff means providing access to care whenever and wherever they need it.”

With this new partnership, NSU joins hundreds of colleges nationwide using TimelyCare to promote student wellness and retention.
