Purple Heart Memorial is a collection of Oral Histories that will be maintained at Northeastern State University.

As a veteran, we encourage you to share your story of service to the United States of America and the freedoms you protected. Family members of veterans are also encouraged to share stories of their loved ones who have received a Purple Heart.

You are encouraged to take a photo at the monument or provide a picture of your choice for submission with your application.

You will need to upload a copy of proper Military Service documents. Such as:

  • A copy of your Department of Veterans Affairs Healthcare Enrollment Card,
  • A copy of your Membership Card showing Membership in a Service Organization, or
  • A copy of your Military ID.

You will also be asked to provide a short written narrative of your story and contact information so that our staff can contact you to schedule an appointment to interview/record your story.

All stories must be verified before being documented in the Oral History Archives at Northeastern State University.
