SEO Guidelines
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It refers to the practice of structuring and writing web content so it can be easily found and understood by search engines and users. Following SEO guidelines helps ensure NSU web pages are easy to find, accessible, and clearly understood by both users and search engines. Consistent SEO practices improve visibility, usability, and overall website quality.
Page Titles
Page titles appear in search results and browser tabs and are a major SEO factor.
- Titles must be 10-70 characters
- Each title must be unique (no duplicates)
- Titles are indexed by search engines
- Whenever possible, include Northeastern State University or NSU
- Always spellcheck

Keywords
Keywords help reinforce what a page is about and should reflect the main topics on the page.
- Review the page content carefully
- Many pages cover multiple topics
- Choose keywords that match each topic users might search for

Should include keywords related to all three topics.
