New Page Set Up | CMS Knowledge Base
New Page Set Up
- Go to your desired folder location.
- For example, let's say we are creating a new degree page for the Department of Criminal Justice. I would go to the academics>criminal justice folder to create this file in.
- Click on the blue box in the top right corner labeled "+NEW" to add a new page.
- Choose "New Interior Page" and this should pop up a new window with the file set up
- Page Set Up - Use the following to learn about what each option means and what to
do during your training.
- General Page Set Up
- Page Title - This is the page title. This will also be displayed by search engines as well as the web browser window. Think the tab label on a Google Chrome browser.
- Description - Important. Enter a short description of the page, to be displayed by search engines. This would be like the blurb under the title of a link in a Google Search.
- Tags - Choose Tags to be added to the page. These can be updated in page properties to add more later. These tags are for our internal search system. Use tags that would help pull up this page when you are using the search system on the nsuok.edu website.
- Keywords - Add keywords to describe key topics on your page. (For limited SEO purposes.) This helps Google and other external search engines pull your webpage.
- File Configuration
- Add Navigation Item - Should a button for this page be added to the main navigation menu on the left side of the page? Note that both files (the current page you are creating and the _nav.inc) need to be published after creation.
- Filename - Enter a filename using only lowercase letters, underscores, or dashes. This will also be how you make your URL.
- Interior Page Options
- Overwrite Existing - If selected, this file will overwrite any existing file of the same name in the same location.
- Access Group - Specify the group with rights to edit this file.
- General Page Set Up
- Click the blue "CREATE" button in the lower right hand corner of the window.
- You have created a new page.
