Nominations for 2027 NSU Centurions to open Oct. 1

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Northeastern State University (NSU) will accept nominations for the 2027 NSU Centurions cohort from Oct. 1 through Nov. 15.

Established during NSU’s Centennial Founders Day Celebration in 2009, the Centurion honor recognizes past and present members of the NSU family whose leadership, service and contributions have made a lasting difference at the university, in the community or beyond.

Each spring, NSU inducts up to 10 alumni, faculty, staff or students as Centurions. The honor is open to members of the NSU family whose contributions have impacted the life of the nominator, the Northeastern community or the public at large.

Notable past honorees include country music icon Carrie Underwood, former NSU athletic director Dr. Jack Dobbins, entrepreneur Jeff Reasor and Cherokee Nation Deputy Chief Bryan Warner.

NSU President Rodney Hanley said the Centurion honor reflects the contributions of the people who have helped shape the university and its communities.

“The Centurion tradition is a powerful reminder of what makes Northeastern State University truly special: our people,” Hanley said. “Each year, this honor allows us to recognize the exceptional alumni, faculty, staff and students who embody the very best of NSU. They reflect our commitment to leadership, service and excellence, and we look forward to honoring the extraordinary individuals who continue to shape our legacy.”

The 2027 Centurion Luncheon is scheduled for March 5, 2027.
