NSU announces Fall 2026 Science & Technology Seminar Series

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Northeastern State University (NSU) has announced the presentations for its Fall 2026 Science & Technology Seminar Series.

The Science & Technology Seminar Series is an educational event that brings together scientists and educators from Oklahoma to discuss breakthroughs in scientific fields. Organized by Dr. Nnamdi Ekesi, associate professor of biology, the fall series will offer unique and innovative perspectives on current issues in fields of science and technology.

The series kicks off on Sept. 16 with “Potent Inhibitors of Metallo-β-Lactamase from Klebsiella pneumoniae (NDM-1),” presented by Dr. Sean Kim, representing the Department of Biochemistry at Northeastern State University.

Following on Sept. 30 is “How Systems Thinking Changes Environmental Solutions,” presented by Dr. Mary Foltz, representing the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Oklahoma State University.

On Oct. 7, Dr. Hazim Aljewari, representing the Department of Research & Development in Molecular Biology at NOWDiagnostics®, will present “From Molecular Biology to Market Impact: Innovation, Diagnostics, and Career Pathways in Biotechnology.”

The series ends on Oct. 21 with “Curiosity without boundaries: From Mitochondria to Medicine,” presented by Dr. Ajibola Bakare, representing the Conway Regional Hendrix Medical Clinic.

“I think these seminars are a great opportunity for students, faculty, staff and community members to hear about the latest work in science and technology and engage with professionals in the field,” said Ekesi. “For our students, it’s also a chance to connect what they’re learning in the classroom to real-world applications, ask questions and gain insight into different career paths.”

Ekesi also noted his gratitude to NSU’s Department of Biological Sciences for their support in organizing these conventions.

NSU President Rodney Hanley highlighted NSU’s commitment to fostering innovation and academic excellence through these collaborative events.

All presentations begin at 4 p.m. in room 160 of the science building on the Tahlequah campus. Each session will last approximately one hour. The seminars are free and open to the public. Complimentary snacks and drinks will be provided.
