NSU creates free webinar series for future students

Series to debut Sept. 29 with topics on the admissions process & scholarship opportunities

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Northeastern State University (NSU) has launched a series of free webinars designed to help prospective and incoming students navigate the college experience.

NSU’s new webinar series will cover topics ranging from admissions, scholarships and financial aid to student organizations, Greek life, housing and the first-year experience. Participants can attend individual sessions based on their interests and questions about attending NSU.

Brian Manley, director of Admissions and Recruitment, shared his excitement for NSU’s future students.

“Our upcoming virtual information sessions give prospective students the chance to learn about everything from admissions and scholarships to campus life and housing,” Manley said. “These webinars are broken down into eight different sessions, allowing guests to pick the subjects that interest them the most.”

Sept. 29, “Becoming a RiverHawk: The Process is Simple,” will cover the admissions process and scholarship opportunities.

Oct. 6, “From Curious to Member: Joining Student Organizations at NSU” will feature current members of student organizations discussing the benefits of campus involvement and available student support services.

Oct. 20 session “Finding Your Path: NSU is Your Transfer Destination” will provide information about transferring to NSU and online learning opportunities.

Nov. 3, “Funding Your Future at NSU: Financial Aid and FAFSA Processes” will guide students through financial aid and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) process.

Nov. 10, “More Than Letters: Discover Greek Life at NSU” will introduce students to Greek life and provide opportunities to get involved in fraternities and sororities at NSU.

Nov. 17, “Not Just Dorms: How to Design Your Living Experience on Campus,” will feature representatives from NSU Housing and Residence Life, who will walk students through the housing application and contract process.

Dec. 1 is “Supporting Your Student’s College Journey: Featuring Family & Parent Program and Campus Safety,” will provide information about NSU’s Family and Parent Program as well as resources and information from Campus Safety.

The series concludes Dec. 8 with “The First-Year Experience: Your Roadmap to Success.” The session will give students an overview of their first year at NSU, including SOAR (a one-day orientation), Welcome Week and other programs and resources designed to help new students transition to college.

“Coming to college is an exciting yet intimidating transition,” NSU President Rodney Hanley said. “These webinars give prospective and incoming students the information they need to feel prepared for their NSU journey. We want students to know that they are not navigating this transition alone; our faculty and staff are here to lend a hand every step of the way.”

All sessions are from 7 to 8 p.m. via Zoom and are free to attend.
