NSU Playhouse to present “You Can’t Take It With You”

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State University (NSU) Playhouse will present “You Can’t Take It With You” April 15–18 at 7:30 p.m. each evening.

Written by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, the classic comedy follows the engagement of Alice Sycamore and Tony Kirby, whose families clash in a whirlwind of eccentricity, wealth and wildly different worldviews.

Exploring themes of joy and authenticity, the play invites audiences to laughter and tears while showing that true wealth lies in family and happiness.

“I am so excited to bring this production to an audience,” Dr. Robyn Pursley, assistant dean of the College of Liberal Arts, said. “We have three incredible alumni guest artists and 15 current drama students in the show. It’s a huge production, but such a fun story to share. I think the audience will really enjoy it.”

The production offers an engaging experience for audiences while giving student performers the opportunity to apply their skills, collaborate with alumni and work together to deliver a memorable performance.

NSU President Rodney Hanley said the collaboration highlights the university’s commitment to immersive student experiences and community enrichment.

“Bringing together students and alumni on one stage creates a meaningful, shared experience that enriches both our campus and the community,” Hanley said.

All proceeds from the show will benefit the Charles Seat Memorial Scholarship Fund, which supports NSU drama students.

Tickets are available at the Playhouse box office, Tuesday-Friday, from noon to 5 p.m., or online at nsuplayhouse.ludus.com.
