Northeastern State University reminds students to complete FAFSA for Fall

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Northeastern State University (NSU) reminds current and prospective students to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by June 30, 2027, for the 2026–2027 school year. The FAFSA is now open. Completing the FAFSA is an essential first step toward accessing financial assistance that can help reduce out-of-pocket costs for those seeking a college education.

At NSU, more than 90% of first-time, full-time undergraduates receive some form of financial assistance. Submitting an application early ensures students maximize consideration for available federal, state and institutional aid programs, including grants, scholarships, work-study positions and federal student loans.

The FAFSA removes one of the most significant barriers to higher education: affordability. By opening the door to financial aid, a college degree becomes far more achievable.

NSU President Rodney Hanley outlined FAFSA’s role in supporting a student's education.

“A college education opens doors to lifelong opportunity, and FAFSA provides the crucial support that helps make that degree achievable,” Hanley said. “Just as NSU offers students the guidance and tools they need to succeed academically, the FAFSA serves as a gateway to financial resources designed to help anyone who seeks them.”

NSU’s Student Financial Services team is available to help students and families navigate the FAFSA process. Specialists and counselors provide one-on-one assistance in person and through scheduled Zoom meetings to answer questions and provide guidance throughout the application process.

Students completing the FAFSA should include NSU’s Federal School Code, 003161, to ensure their information is sent to the university.
