Northeastern State University to host ACE Summer Institute to empower next generation of teachers
BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – Northeastern State University (NSU) will host the first Alternative Certification for Educators (ACE) Summer Institute on June 17 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Broken Arrow campus.
The ACE Summer Institute, a one-day event, is designed to support future educators across Oklahoma through hands-on learning, professional networking, and skill development.
Participants will explore effective teaching strategies, classroom management techniques, cultural awareness and technology integration. The institute will feature high-energy breakout sessions, collaborative activities and insights into current research and tools shaping today’s classrooms.
“Preparing and supporting teachers is essential to shaping the future of our communities,” NSU President Rodney Hanley said. “The ACE Summer Institute gives aspiring and current educators the tools, confidence and connections they need to succeed in the classroom and inspire the next generation of learners.”
The event will feature keynote presentations from Jere Chang and Dr. Valerie Camille Jones Ford.
Chang, an online influencer with more than 3.5 million followers, is known for her motivational talks on education, inclusion, creative thinking, and school issues. She has been invited to speak at national platforms, including the White House.
Jones Ford has transformed how math is taught through the use of virtual reality, video games and innovative assignments. Diagnosed with dyscalculia as a teenager, she strives to make math fun and accessible for all students.
“The ACE Summer Institute represents more than just professional development; it’s a commitment to growing passionate, prepared educators who will make a lasting impact in their classrooms and communities,” Ana Landsaw, director of the NSU Alternative Certification for Educators Institute, said. “We are proud to create a space where learning, mentorship, and opportunity come together.”
This event is open to current ACE students, paraprofessionals, STEM professionals seeking certification, or anyone interested in entering the education field.
Tickets are free for ACE students and $25 for non-ACE attendees. Attendees will enjoy complimentary food and a chance to win a career services door prize.
