Exhibit features aerial images of Broken Arrow landmarks and weather events
BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – Aerial photographer Ray Neal’s “My Town,” a photography exhibit featuring aerial views of Broken Arrow landmarks and weather events, is on display at Northeastern State University Broken Arrow (NSUBA) through Sept. 30.
The exhibit title draws from “Small Town Feels,” Neal’s collection featured at Museum Broken Arrow in 2025. For “My Town,” Neal revisits several original pieces while expanding the collection to focus on the landmarks and weather events that define the community.
Neal said the collection offers a new perspective on the community through photographs taken from above.
"We become so used to viewing our hometown from the ground that we lose sight of its grander scope," Neal said. "By taking these shots from above, I want to offer people a fresh vantage point; one that challenges them to pause, take a second look and truly value the community we live in."
The NSUBA Visitors Center Gallery provides opportunities for students and the broader community to experience art. Neal hopes the exhibit encourages visitors to slow down and take notice of their surroundings.
"I hope that whether locals or visitors come to the campus in Broken Arrow, they are encouraged to stop for just a second and look around, if nothing else, but to appreciate the awesome things that are around us all the time," Neal said.
Reflecting on the local impact of the collection, NSU President Rodney Hanley highlighted the exhibit’s message.
"'My Town' is more than a display of photographs; it is a dynamic tribute to the identity, growth and resilience of Broken Arrow. Ray Neal’s striking aerial work challenges us to look beyond the everyday and recognize the extraordinary environment around us. NSU-Broken Arrow is proud to lead the charge in showcasing art that leaves a lasting impression."
Located on the first floor of the Administrative Services building on the NSU-Broken Arrow campus, the exhibit runs through Sept. 30.
Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
