NSU announces spring 2024 commencement ceremonies, speakers

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Northeastern State University will recognize graduating students during spring 2024 commencement ceremonies on May 10, 11 and 13.

The NSU Oklahoma College of Optometry ceremony will take place on Friday, May 10 at 4 p.m. in the NSU Center for the Performing Arts in Tahlequah.

The Gregg Wadley College of Science & Health Professions ceremony will take place on Friday, May 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the NSU Event Center in Tahlequah.

Ceremonies will continue on Saturday, May 11 in the NSU Event Center with the College of Education commencement at 9:30 a.m. and the College of Business & Technology and College of Liberal Arts ceremony at 1:30 p.m.

The ceremony for all NSU-Broken Arrow students will take place on Monday, May 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the ORU Mabee Center in Tulsa.

Addressing the graduates and guests will be the 2023 Distinguished Alumnus Loren Montgomery, 2023 Distinguished Alumna Sara Hill and 2024 NSU Centurion Andrea Tucker.

Montgomery earned his bachelor’s degree in special education from NSU in 2000. Following his own successful football career at NSU, he worked for 10 seasons in a number of coaching roles for the Jenks Trojans football team. Montgomery currently serves as head football coach for the Bixby Spartans, where he has led the team to multiple state championships.

Montgomery will deliver the commencement address for the Gregg Wadley College of Science & Health Professions ceremony on Friday, May 10.

Hill graduated from NSU with a bachelor’s degree in public administration in 2000. Earlier this spring, Hill was sworn in as a U.S. District Court Judge serving the Northern District of Oklahoma. Before that she served as Attorney General for the Cherokee Nation and as Cherokee Nation Secretary of Natural Resources.

Hill will deliver the address for the College of Education ceremony and the College of Business & Technology and College of Liberal Arts ceremony on May 11.

Tucker attended NSU-Broken Arrow in 2003 as a first-generation college student. She now manages her own practice as Vice President, Senior Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Tucker actively serves on the NSU College of Business & Technology Advisory Board.

Tucker will deliver the address for the NSU-Broken Arrow ceremony on May 13.

Guests are welcome to attend each ceremony. NSU will also livestream the commencement ceremonies for family members and friends of graduates unable to attend in person.
